FREESKOOL AUGUST CALENDAR

Intro to Self Defense [pt.1,2,3]

Location: Meet at Gazebo, Granite Creek Park
Description: This three part series will focus on: falling, escape tactics, strike defense, and strategy.
Requirements: Wear clothes you feel comfortable getting grass stained.

Urban Garden Harvesting

Location: Meet at The Catalyst Infoshop. Gardens are located all around town
Description: Join the Karma Farm team! This urban garden adventure will get you hands on experience in the dirt and more with garden plant identification. Fridays harvest goes to Food Not Bombs. Monday’s harvest goes to the Karma Share CSA program.
Requirements: You’ll be riding bikes. If you don’t have access to one, the Catalyst can provide one for you.

Zine Making 101 [pt.1,2,3]

Description: What is a zine? Come and find out how to create your own (maga) zine, published and distributed by you. About anything! Ex: gardening, travel stories, DIY projects, love, war, poetry, bicycles.

Kombucha & Cooking

Description: Kombucha is a cultured miracle drink sold for high prices in natural foods stores. Come learn how to grow and care for your own! Cooking 101 class to follow. For all ages: come learn basics.

“Let’s Ride!” Bicycle Maintence Skillshare

Description: Critical Mass is a week away. Is your bike ready to ride? Do you have a bike? Let’s get our bikes ready to ride. Don’t know much about bike maintenance? No worries… bike mechanics and HUB volunteers will also be around to answer questions.

Monsoon Wildflower Walk

Description: Monsoons are here, and where water flows, flowers grow! When you focus in, there
are many flowers bursting forth and some have medicinal value. Join Herbalist Shana Lipner on a field walk to check out some local flora while they last. Location TBA

Herbal First Aid

Description: Many folk remedies are at the root of basic herbal healing and we can use herbs in
replacement for many over the counter remedies, especially for first-aid situations. Join us for an introduction to uses of herbs for healing common issues. Learn why using herbs and nutrition produce lasting health effects instead of suppressing symptoms. Empower yourself in this introduction to a hands on approach to healing with herbs.

Fun w/ KIDS ART!

Description: Let’s have fun with art! Class will be lead by the avid art lover, Sarah, who will have fun ideas and projects to share with young minds! All ages encouraged.

Food Preservation
Location: Every Thursday evening @ 6pm, Catalyst Community Kitchen.
Karma Farm: As we all learn together how to can and preserve our garden, we become more self and community sufficient. Come leanr skills to take home and try out in your own kitchen or @ Catalyst Community Kitchen.

*Food Not Bombs (FNB)
Food Not Bombs is an all vegan/vegetarian meal cooked at the Catalyst Infoshop at Noon and served at 3pm on the Courthouse Square. FNB is free and sustained through volunteers and donations. Open to ALL.

Critical Mass
Last Friday of every month. An all inclusive bike ride to show Prescott “We Are Traffic!” All ages. Route chosen to fit riders ability and comfort.
Location: Meet @ the Catalyst 5pm ride at 5:30pm

Really Really Free Market [RRFM]
The last Saturday of every month @ Granite Creek Park from 12-5pm. Bring an item, take an item. Participate in a true gift ecomony.

PPL Mural Volunteer Days
Every Saturday in Aug. 9-5:30pm. Help paint the new mural @ Public library. Info: www.prescottmurals.com

The Prescott Freeskool is a collective of folks
